As a new feature of member benefits, the Oneonta Business Association plans to provide mini-workshops and presentations to aid its members. The first of this series was presented in December on the topic of RUN. HIDE. FIGHT. RESPONDING TO AN ACTIVE SHOOTER.
The Oneonta Business Association will host a formatted debate concerning the proposed 9-mil property tax increase. Business leaders and individuals are invited to attend Tuesday, February 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the WoodmenLife Building on Hwy. 75 across from the Ford dealership. The debate is open to the public and the news media. This event will also be broadcast live on the Oneonta Business Association Facebook page for those who cannot attend.
Representatives from “Building on the Legacy,” lead by School Board President Patrick Adams together with opponents Philip Cleveland (owner of The Magnolia House and The Olive Home and former interim Superintendent of the Alabama State Department of Education) and Ricky Cleveland (owner of Xcel Masonry and rural and residential properties) will be given equal time and structured questions.
Both groups were provided questions ahead of time to clearly and adequately respond. There will be no questions from the audience afterward but representatives from both sides will remain to accept one-on-one questions.
The OBA hopes this will be helpful to facilitate civil discussion in our community. The mission of the Oneonta Business Association is to provide information to the public and business members to better enable them to make informed decisions.
