Award Categories
Trees will be judged by an out-of-town committee and awards given for:
- Most Original
- Most Creative
- Outstanding Organization Tree
- Best Business Promotion
- Best of Show
- Entry deadline is November 22, 2023, or until all trees have been sponsored.
- We are limiting the number of trees that we setup this year so it will be first come first serve.
- Look for the small sign beside the tree to find the one assigned to you.
- LED lights or solar lights only. No exceptions.
- An LED spotlight cannot take the place of LED lights on the tree.
- 2023 trees are provided by Moody Christmas Tree Farm and are 7 to 8 ft.
- We recommend 10-15 strings of lights per tree. The more the better. Some merchants sell LED lights on the spool at great savings, so be sure to explore that possibility to save money.
- Be sure to check your lights to make sure they are working before putting them on the tree.
- You must supply one #12 gauge heavy duty rated outdoor extension cord, no more than 25 feet long. Connect this to your tree's lights to check to see if they are burning. Unplug it. The OBA will get all trees connected properly to the power source.
- Please use decorations that can withstand the wind and rain.
- We suggest that you spray any fabric/material with Scotch Guard to prevent mildew and keep them looking good.
- You might want to bring a step-ladder to reach the top of your tree.
- Small plastic zipties, pipe cleaners, string, or other ties should be used to secure your decorations. Do not use ornament hooks.
- Tree skirts are fine and make your tree more attractive by hiding the cords and plugs around the base of your tree, please keep in mind that we will need access to water your tree. Tree Skirts are not required.
- If you plan to spray paint or snow on your tree, please bring a plastic drop cloth or other covering for the grass. And do not spray on a windy day when your paint may end up on a neighboring tree.
- An OBA attendant will not be in the venue area at all times. Please call Tara at 205-473-6410 if you have any issues during those days.
- The OBA will check all trees periodically; however, it is recommended that you assign someone to check your tree, as well. Please remember that trees will be out in the elements over 30 days and wind, rain, and other weather may cause ornaments to fall.
- Trees will be judged by an out-of-county panel of individuals. Decision of judges is final.
- Winners will be announced in a brief ceremony on (Date to be Determined) All entries should have a representative present and stay for photos.
- Decorations and lights must be removed from the tree between January 1-3, 2024; otherwise, they become the property of the OBA.
- If you'd like to dispose of your tree yourself, feel free to do so but do not take the heavy duty tree stand. The tree stand remains the property of the OBA.
