Today we are honored to recognize William "Bill" Hendrickson, one of the veterans featured on our Flag of Honor banners in Downtown Oneonta.
Bill dedicated more than 36 years of service to the United States Navy, rising from an enlisted sailor to the rank of Captain and commanding the USS Nebraska. His distinguished career included leadership roles in the Navy's nuclear submarine program, helping train future generations of sailors and ensuring the readiness of our nation's submarine fleet.
Today, Bill continues to serve his community through volunteer work and civic involvement here in Oneonta. We are proud to honor his service, leadership, and commitment to both our country and our hometown.

Today we honor Rev. Charles Richard "Bunkum" Waugh, a veteran, minister, law enforcement officer, educator, and public servant whose life was dedicated to serving both his country and his community.
From enlisting during World War II at an extraordinarily young age, to serving in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and two tours in Vietnam, Rev. Waugh's story is one of courage, faith, and lifelong service. After his military career, he continued giving back through ministry, law enforcement, education, and emergency management here in Blount County.

Behind the Banner honors Navy Veteran Dalton Wester, whose military service spanned more than two decades and continued through a lifetime of dedication to fellow veterans.
From his enlistment in 1960 and service aboard the USS Aegir, to his retirement as a Chief Yeoman and later serving Blount County veterans for 24 years as the County Veterans Service Officer, Dalton's commitment to service never wavered.
